Sunflower Wedding

Here's a new twist on a wedding cake....a cupcake tower in the shape of a wedding cake!  This is an easy way to serve your guests...no cake cutting and no mess.  With the new cupcake crave in America, bride's are choosing a tower of cupcakes to serve their guests, along with a small cake on the top for the "cake cutting" pictures.

This cake topper was red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. It is covered in white fondant with a pearl border. The sunflowers were hand-made with gumpaste.

The "brown layer" on the cupcake tower included chocolate cupcakes, filled with caramel and candied pecans, topped with a French chocolate buttercream.

The "white layer" on the tower included white almond cupcakes, filled with lemon mascarpone cream, and topped with Swiss vanilla buttercream.   Each white cupcake included a hand-made sunflower.

Congrats Alyssa and Michael!

Desserts and Pastries

The newest additions to the Sweet Stirrings menu are fine pastries and desserts. I'm very excited that dessert buffets have become popular at events lately. The buffet can make a great addition to an event cake, or just take the place of it.

Below are some of the items on the new dessert menu....and, yes, they do taste as good as they look :)

Cinnamon and Ancho Chile Dark Chocolate Truffles
Cinnamon, ancho chile powder, and cayenne pepper are added to a creamy chocolate ganache. They are then hand-rolled, dipped in chocolate, and covered in cocoa powder.
The cinnamon and chocolate are the first flavors you taste....but, then, the chile takes over at the end. Just the right amount of sweet and heat, in one little bite!

Mini Pecan Pralines
A traditional southern favorite. These are creamy and sweet with lots of crispy pecans.

Mini Chocolate Eclaires
A crisp pastry shell (or, culinary speaking - Pate a Choux) is filled with a vanilla bean pastry cream and then dipped in dark chocolate ganache.

Fleur de Sel Chocolate Caramels
One of my favorite candies ever...a chewy caramel is made with just a hint of sea salt. It is then dipped in dark chocolate and garnished with a little more sea salt. The saltiness adds such a great flavor to the rich caramel and chocolate....it's genius!!

Mini Orange Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
Orange juice and zest add great flavor to this traditional oatmeal raisin cookie.  The soft and chewy cookie is dipped in white chocolate and garnished with candied orange zest.

Hazelnut Milk Chocolate Truffles
Nutella and Frangelico are mixed into a creamy milk chocolate ganache. The ganache is hand-rolled, dipped in milk chocolate, and covered in chopped hazelnuts.

Lemon Tarts
A mini shortbread tart shell is filled with lemon curd and topped off with whipped cream and candied lemon zest. The curd is super zesty and tart, but the shortbread cuts that for a perfect lemon taste.

Dark Chocolate Espresso Truffles
Espresso and Kahlua are mixed with a creamy dark chocolate ganache. They are hand rolled, dipped in dark chocolate, and garnished with chocolate sprinkles.

French Macaroons
This famous Parisian dessert consists of two light, but crispy, cookies that are sandwiched together with a flavored buttercream. The cookie is usually colored to match the flavor of the buttercream, i.e. pink for strawberry, green for pistachio. However, you can make them whatever color you'd wish! They are a great addition to a dessert buffet, as they are very light in sweetness and add great color to the presentation.

Mini S'mores Cupcakes
One of my favorite desserts as a kid was s'mores! What better way to add this nostalgic dessert to a buffet, than to make a bite-sized/messy-free cupcake out of it! I make a graham cracker cake, dip it in milk chocolate ganache, and top it with a marshmallow meringue (that is toasted, of course). Yum!!

Orange and Raspberry Dark Chocolate Truffles
These dark chocolate molds are filled with a Chambord and Cointreau flavored ganache. The raspberry and orange flavors go great with a rich, dark chocolate.

Toasted Meringues
These meringues are flavored with vanilla, toasted until crispy, and then dipped in chocolate. Super light and tasty!

Tiramisu Cups
Yellow cake is soaked with an espresso Kahlua syrup and layered with an espresso mascarpone cheese filling. It is then topped off with whipped cream and chocolate pearls. The delicious layers are shown off in these clear, disposable cups and served with mini silver spoons! They are great "pick-me-ups!"

Almond Tea Cakes with a Lemon Glaze
This dense, moist cake is made with almond meal, so it has a great natural almond flavor. It is glazed with a lemon icing. These bite-sized cakes are great with tea or coffee.

So, what do you think??
I bet you are dying to try some of these delicious looking desserts right about now, right?!?

Contact me the next you host a party, need a gift box...or, would just like to indulge yourself!!
