Austin Skyline & Comic Book Cakes

I am a little late posting pictures from this wedding....an entire year late, to be exact! Tomorrow marks one year since this fabulous couple got married. I had so much fun working with this bride and groom. They were all about unique, fun wedding ideas and their wedding turned out absolutely awesome!
Because a lot of their guests were travelling to Austin from out of town and state, they decided to do an Austin-themed bridal cake. Inspired from a cake design found on The Knot, the cake displays famous Austin landmarks and buildings, such as the Frost Bank skyscraper, the Capitol building, Stevie Ray Vaughn statue, ACL sign, the Congress bat bridge, and an ACL guitar. One of the wedding colors was a peacock blue, so we added that color on the cake with the border on each tier. The black outlines really make the buildings/landmarks pop!

Groom's Cake
This cake was a surprise for the groom from the bride. While the couple was dating, the groom (a comic buff) wrote and drew a comic book for the bride that was the story of how they met...with a comic twist! The bride gave me a copy of this precious story, so I handdrew and painted the pages on to fondant panels. The top of the cake displays the comic characters - the bride, groom, and their sweet dog Roxy. The groom was SO surprised and SO excited :) I LOVE the pictures that the photographer got! (http://wildhousephoto.com/jeanine-scott-austin-wedding-photography-2/)

The party favors were super cute cookies to look like their schnauzer, Roxy. Roxy couldn't physically be at the wedding...so she was there in cookie-form!

The night before the wedding, at the rehearsal dinner, the couple gave the guests cookie favors. Each cookie was the state of Texas with a heart over where Austin is!

I am so honored to have been chosen by this sweet couple to help make their wedding even more special. I hope you have an awesome first anniversary! I miss you both :)

Pizza...It's whats for birthday cake!

I LOVE pizza. I love it so much that I could eat it EVERY day for the rest of my life. My husband knows not to ask me what I'm "in the mood for" for dinner, because he knows I'll say pizza every time :) So, obviously, I was overjoyed to make this pizza cake for a little boy's birthday party!
The local pizza shop offers birthday parties where each kid gets to make their own pizza. How cool is that! This pizza cake fit perfectly into the theme of the party. But, even though it looks like a real pizza, it tasted like yummy chocolate cake and chocolate buttercream :)

All of the toppings are made out of fondant and hand painted and dusted to look like real meat and veggies! The pizza sauce is buttercream colored red. And, the cheese is buttercream...that I "melted" with a kitchen torch! (that part was so much fun!!) The crust is white fondant that was airbrushed with ivory and brown to look toasted.

Hope you had an awesome birthday Jack!

Nursery Rhyme Baby Shower

For those of you who don't know, my husband and I had an adorable baby boy, named Jackson Eric,  6 weeks ago. We are so in love with this little guy! Even though we've had many sleepless nights, we are having so much fun taking care of him.
A couple of months before little Jackson arrived, my sister and husband's aunts threw me an AMAZING baby shower. The theme of Jackson's nursery is Nursery Rhymes, so they used that as the theme for the shower. I love the theme so much, that I begged for them to let me make the dessert table! All of the food items were made to match a nursery rhyme...so cute!! They also had pictures and ceramic figurines of nursery rhymes all over the room.  Here are the pictures!!
