Austin Skyline & Comic Book Cakes
I am a little late posting pictures from this wedding....an entire year late, to be exact! Tomorrow marks one year since this fabulous couple got married. I had so much fun working with this bride and groom. They were all about unique, fun wedding ideas and their wedding turned out absolutely awesome!
Because a lot of their guests were travelling to Austin from out of town and state, they decided to do an Austin-themed bridal cake. Inspired from a cake design found on The Knot, the cake displays famous Austin landmarks and buildings, such as the Frost Bank skyscraper, the Capitol building, Stevie Ray Vaughn statue, ACL sign, the Congress bat bridge, and an ACL guitar. One of the wedding colors was a peacock blue, so we added that color on the cake with the border on each tier. The black outlines really make the buildings/landmarks pop!
Groom's Cake
This cake was a surprise for the groom from the bride. While the couple was dating, the groom (a comic buff) wrote and drew a comic book for the bride that was the story of how they met...with a comic twist! The bride gave me a copy of this precious story, so I handdrew and painted the pages on to fondant panels. The top of the cake displays the comic characters - the bride, groom, and their sweet dog Roxy. The groom was SO surprised and SO excited :) I LOVE the pictures that the photographer got! The party favors were super cute cookies to look like their schnauzer, Roxy. Roxy couldn't physically be at the wedding...so she was there in cookie-form!
The night before the wedding, at the rehearsal dinner, the couple gave the guests cookie favors. Each cookie was the state of Texas with a heart over where Austin is!
I am so honored to have been chosen by this sweet couple to help make their wedding even more special. I hope you have an awesome first anniversary! I miss you both :)
