A Penguin for a Winter Wedding!

I had the pleasure of working with a super sweet couple for a wedding this past January.  They wanted a very unique wedding cake and a big penguin groom's cake!! I had so much fun planning everything out with them. And....they LOVE cake, so choosing flavors was just as important as the design - which makes a pastry chef happy :)

So, the story behind the penguin....
The groom owns a computer software company and the operating system Linux has a mascot penguin named Tux. The bride has always loved penguins, so it just made sense to make a penguin cake!

I just had to take a picture with the penguin, to show you how big it was!

The bride fell in love with this design below and used it for the liner of her invites and stationary. She loved it so much, she wanted it incorporated into the brides cake!

I hand painted the design onto three of the cake tiers. The middle tier included their new monogram.

The hand-painting was a labor of love for cake decorating :)
I truly love how unique and personal this cake design is. It's definitely one of my favorites!

The bride's cake included White Almond cake with Caramel filling, Grand Marnier soaked White Almond cake with Orange White Chocolate Mousse and Raspberry Chiffon, and Banana cake with Nutella buttercream.  The groom's cake was Chocolate cake with Peanut Butter buttercream.
